How to Get from Katowice International Airport to Sosnowiec

Katowice International Airport (KTW) is in Pyrzowice, at Wolności 90, 42-625 Ożarowice. That puts the airport outside Sosnowiec, so plan for a road or bus journey between the terminal and town rather than assuming the airport is in Katowice itself.

Airport transport information covers travel by car, bus, train, taxi and rental car. If you are arranging your arrival before setting off, those are the main transport categories to compare. For context on what to do after reaching town, see this guide to getting around Sosnowiec city centre.

Driving is a direct option to the hotel area. That gives you a useful comparison with the bus routes when choosing how to travel.

The airport provides separate directions for arriving by car and identifies Katowice Airport Taxi as its official taxi carrier. Car hire is another option, with a list of companies offering services at the airport.

Those choices let you arrange either a self-drive journey or a car transfer, but the available details do not specify prices or journey times for individual providers.

If you are booking a taxi or rental car, check the provider’s current arrangements before you travel. For a wider plan once you reach Sosnowiec, this practical one-day route in Sosnowiec can help with the next part of your stay.

Two bus services offer connections between the airport area and Sosnowiec: ZTM metropolitan line M19 and AP2.

ZTM metropolitan line M19

M19 is a direct connection between Sosnowiec, Będzin, Psary and Mierzęcice and the airport in Pyrzowice. All ZTM tickets can be used on its metropolitan airport lines. For departure times, look up your journey date in the timetable section under Bus – Metropolitan line.

AP2 airport line

AP2 runs between Katowice Sądowa and Pyrzowice Port Lotniczy. Its listed stops include Katowice Dworzec, Katowice Sokolska, Katowice Strefa Kultury, Sosnowiec Dworzec PKP and Będzin Stadion. This gives you a bus connection through Sosnowiec’s railway station, although the available route information does not provide journey times or fares.

Ordinary bus routes 17, 85 and 738 also serve the airport area. The information available here does not establish these as direct Sosnowiec services, so compare their routes with M19 and AP2 before setting out.

Check the route and departure details for your travel date before choosing a connection. Bus timetables and transport arrangements can change, and a route’s listed stops alone do not confirm how long your journey will take.

Pyrzowice Lotnisko railway station is about 500 metres from the passenger terminals, connected by an asphalt pavement. If you are considering a train connection, allow time for that walk and check the full journey details with the relevant operator. Separate information is available for public and private bus services, as well as car, taxi and rental-car travel.

Before you go: check the official site before you go, including ZTM’s timetable for M19 and the airport’s current transport information.
